Description

Historian Elaine Bradbury leads special tours of Marrett House focusing on the lives of upper-class rural Maine women, like the three generations of Marrett women who lived here between 1790 and 1890. Learn how they were educated, how they fed their families and took care of their homes, and how they entertained themselves in their leisure time. Occupied by one family for more than 150 years, the 1789 Marrett House showcases the treasured possessions of three generations as they chose to display them, including fine pewter, furniture, ceramics, and textiles from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Tours leave on the hour. Last tour leaves at 2:00 p.m. Registration is recommended.
