Oxford Hills Area

The magnificent Oxford Hills – eleven towns nestled in the western foothills of Maine – include a treasure trove of lakes, ponds, rivers and streams ideal for swimming, boating and fishing. Canoe, kayak, sail, motor boat on your choice of 33 pristine lakes and ponds: access is easy with several public boat launches and very few restrictions. The village of Harrison, nestled between Crystal and Long Lake, connects boaters with more than 30 miles of interconnecting waterways.

Photograph a Maine moose, sit on a cottage porch and listen to the cry of a loon.
Thompson Lake in Oxford and Lake Pennesseewassee in Norway are great places to spot loons.

Explore our famous mineral and gem mines, take in a professional theater performance, or enjoy Norway's famous Sidewalk Art Festival.

Enjoy two golf courses located right here in the Oxford Hills. The Norway Country Club is located on Route 118 in Norway, and the Paris Hill Country Club is located on historic Paris Hill. Both courses are open to the public and afford panoramic views of the region.

Cross country ski and snowmobile trails abound, and there's easy access to four major ski resorts. We are also the home of the Oxford County Fair. Looking for a great place to visit? To live and work? Raise a family, or retire? Head for the Hills…the Hills of Western Maine.
